Indiana Memorial Union, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Pre-registration and Abstracts will begin online on May 10, 2007. Abstract submission deadline is June 3, 2007.

On-site registration and check-in begins at noon EDT, July 7, 2007.

Dear colleagues

The next consortium meeting aims to inform one another about results obtained from our ongoing investigations into the genome biology of Daphnia. This meeting will have a significant impact on the organization and quality of research papers - scheduled for publication later this year - describing the draft genome sequence. We strongly encourage that (at least) one key member of each research group be present. We also invite DGC members at large to participate, to learn about recent tool developments and contribute to the Daphnia magna genome sequencing project, which begins this summer. Our upcoming meeting is scheduled for July 2007. This gathering will mirror last year's successful format, beginning with on-site registration and check- in on July 7, between 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and with an Opening Plenary Session of talks beginning at 4:00 pm.

This agenda is largely structured around the five sections of the manual annotation project and will include Help! sessions, where experts in genome annotation recommend solutions to common problems. The meeting will minimally include the following highlights:

  • Up to 20 oral presentations will provide updates on research by groups within the five sections.

  • Up to 50 posters will feature the current state of the genome assembly and gene annotations, including experimental research.

  • There will be discussions regarding the plans for publishing this work and instructions by experts on further improving the genome data.

  • There will be discussions on future needs in support of the Daphnia magna genome sequencing project.

  • There will be plenty of time for informal discussions.

We will be wrapping up the meeting no later than 5:00 pm on July 9, 2007.
