Dear colleagues
Preparations are underway for our upcoming meeting, scheduled for
January
2006. This gathering will begin with on-site registration and check-
in on
January 17, between 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and with an Opening Plenary
Session of talks beginning at 4:00 pm.
As with the Daphnia genome, this agenda is continually evolving but
will minimally include the following highlights:
- Up to 15 oral presentations will provide updates on the various
activities of the consortium, some directly related to the genome
project
(including the genome sequence), others related to preliminary results
obtained from the application of genomic tools in fields such as
ecology,
toxicology, evolution and developmental biology.
- Up to 50 posters will feature current and planned research.
- There will be discussions regarding the plans for improving
the sequence
assembly, annotating the genome, and ways for DGC members to
contribute in
analyzing this data.
- There will be
discussions on future needs and how to elevate resources for related
Daphnia species.
- There will be plenty of time for informal discussions.
We will be wrapping up the meeting no later than 5:00 pm on January 19,
2006.
